Once, the Filipino people removed a dictator in a bloodless revolution that inspired other movements. The People Power Revolution of 1986 may not have fulfilled all its promises of a better life, but it reinstalled the fundamental rights of the people. Abuse and corruption in governance that ensued cannot take away the legacies of the revolution – freedom and democracy.
