A fireman takes his break after battling the fires that razed the Faculty Centre (FC) building in UP Diliman.

The FC, also known as Bulwagang Rizal (Rizal Hall), is not only seen as a structure for faculty offices but more importantly as a repository of valuable knowledge, a gallery and performance venue for the arts, a library of personal and rare collections, a museum of artefacts, and a time capsule of memories and (developing) histories of teachers and students. Below is Napoleon Abueva’s sculpture Siyam na Diwata ng Sining (Nine Muses of the Arts) which survived the fire.
